Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has congratulated Africa World Airlines on the launch of direct flights from Accra to Ouagadougou, commencing June 3, 2025. The new route will operate three times weekly, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

In a congratulatory letter to the airline, Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, Managing Director of GACL, stated: “As a stakeholder in the aviation industry, GACL shares in your success and wishes you the best on the new route.”

She noted that the introduction of a direct route signifies a new era of convenience and efficiency for both business and leisure travelers, offering passengers more options and seamless connectivity between Ghana and Ouagadougou.

Opare also announced that Uganda Airlines has obtained all the necessary permits and approvals to commence operations out of Accra. She added that the commencement date and flight schedules will be communicated in due course.

“Uganda Airlines will become the 25th international airline to operate into Kotoka International Airport,” she said.

The CEO emphasised that these developments are a clear indication of the growing confidence in Ghana’s aviation industry and significantly enhance efforts to position Ghana as the preferred aviation hub and leader in airport business in West Africa.
