The Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has reaffirmed that under the John Mahama administration, recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) will be strictly based on merit, not financial inducements.

He emphasised that the government is committed to ensuring transparency and fairness in the enlistment process.

Speaking during the Government Accountability Series in Accra on Monday, July 21, 2025 Dr Omane Boamah cautioned the public against individuals posing as military recruitment agents to demand money in exchange for enlistment opportunities.

“Under the Mahama administration, recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces will be based on merit, not money,” he emphasised.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and report such fraudulent activities to the security agencies.

“Be aware of fraudsters and report them to the security. Anyone who engages such persons does so at his or her own risk,” he indicated.
