The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced that all recruitment centres in Accra for the 2025/2026 enlistment exercise will be closed on November 24, 2025, with the exception of the El-Wak Sports Stadium.

In a statement issued on November 23, 2025, the GAF said all potential recruits who have not yet been screened should report to El-Wak for the continuation of their documentation and body selection procedures.

The decision comes in the wake of the tragic stampede at El-Wak Stadium on November 12, 2025, which claimed the lives of six prospective recruits and left several others injured.

Senior military officers supervising the recruitment have also been directed to step aside to allow for a fair and transparent investigation into the incident.

The GAF said it remains committed to supporting those affected by the stampede. Injured applicants are receiving free treatment at the 37 Military Hospital, and a “special recruitment package” will be offered to them once they fully recover, as well as to the families of the deceased.

“All recruitment centres in Accra for the 2025/2026 exercise except El-Wak Sports Stadium will be closed on Monday, 24 November 2025. All potential recruits yet to be screened should report to El-Wak Sports Stadium for the continuation of documentation and body selection,” the GAF said in its post on X.
