GBC News: Updates on Atiwa By-Election

Voting is underway in the Atiwa constituency to elect a replacement for the former Member of Parliament, Kwasi Annoh-Ankamah who died in July this year.

Four parties are contesting the seat. They are the National Democratic Congress (NDC), New Patriotic Party (NPP), People’s National Convention (PNC) and the New Vision Party (NVP).

51,664 eligible voters are expected to cast their vote.

According to our correspondents, the area is calm and voting is going on peacefully.

At all the centres visited by our correspondents, voting started at exactly 7 a.m. with the exception of the Akrofufu Temporary Booth One which delayed for 15 minutes due to late arrival of the NDC party representatives.

At Bomaa Presby Primary, 48 out of 531 people had voted as of 7.55 a.m.

498 voters are expected to cast their vote at Awenare Presby School but as at 8.15 a.m. only 58 had voted.

As at 8.18 a.m. 70 out of 486 people had voted at Awenare Day Care Centre polling station.

At the Abomosu Health Centre polling station as at 9.40 a.m. 116 out of 533 had cast their vote.
