The Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) with technical assistance from Johns Hopkins University Center for Communication Programmes yesterday launched a radio magazine series in Accra called, "A Healthier Happier Home" (He Ha Ho).
The programme will tackle three areas of health issues - malaria, childhood diseases and family planning.
Launching it, the Deputy Minister of Health, Mr. Moses Dani Baah, said the programme will focus on individual, family and community level interventions to improve home-based care for malaria and other childhood illnesses.
It is also targeted at families and caregivers with the objective of increasing the number of caregivers who are able to respond to family health issues.
Mr. Dani Baah said there should be well-packaged information on various health issues to eliminate the "disease of ignorance".
He encouraged the public to form "He Ha Ho" listening groups to support the collective effort of achieving healthier happier homes.
The Director of Radio Mr. Yaw Owusu Addo, said the programme would educate the youth and community at large and would have an entertainment aspect.
The Director General of GBC, Mr. Seth Adjetey, advocated for an increase in the TV licence fee, so that GBC can fund its own programmes and projects.
