GBC To Be Provided With Logistics To Be More Efficient

The Minister of Communications, Mr.. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, has expressed the government's commitment to assisting the GBC in terms of equipment to enable it to play its role effectively. This is due to the importance the government attaches to the corporation. The Minister said this during a fact-finding mission to the GBC to acquaint himself with the corporation's problems. Mr.. Spio-Garbrah commended the staff of the corporation for doing their best despite the numerous problems facing the corporation. He called for a revision of the TV license fees and urged GTV to produce good programmes to justify the new fees it wants to charge. Areas the Minister visited include the TV Master Control Room, the TV Newsroom and the Video Tape Recording Room. The Acting Director of Engineering, Mr.. Kwadwo Frimpong who conducted Mr.. Spio Garbrah round, said five million dollars will be needed for the rehabilitation of the studios and equipment of the GTV. The Director-General of the GBC, Dr.. Kofi Frimpong, said the Corporation needs urgent assistance to enable it to live up to expectation.
