GBL donates books to schools in its catchments area.

Bogoso (W/R) May 7, GNA- The Bogoso Gold Limited (BGL) on Friday donated assorted text books worth 79 million cedis to eight first and second cycle schools in the Wassa-Amenfi East and Wassa West districts of the Western Region.

Beneficiaries of the donation, which forms part of the Company's social responsibility programme to communities in its catchments area, were Amenfiman Secondary School, Bogoso Saint Augustine's Secondary School and Dumasi D/C Primary School.


The rest were Prestea Secondary Technical School, Himan Methodist Primary School, Cambridge Preparatory School, Saint James Anglican Junior Secondary School and Prestea Catholic primary School. Madam Juliet McDonald, Community Development Superintendent of BGL, presenting the books at a ceremony at Bogoso emphasised the Company's commitment to assist the government to provide good quality education for the people.

She said the BGL had been liasing with foreign organisations and individuals to contribute to improved education in the country. Madam McDonald hoped beneficiary institutions would take advantage of the donations and work hard to improve teaching and learning. Madam Faustina Baabra Adaquah, Headmistress of Amanfiman Secondary School who received the books expressed gratitude to BGL for the Company's immense contributions to schools in the area. She said transportation is a major problem for educational institutions in the area and hoped BGL would help to provide buses to these institutions.


Madam Adaquah advised the youth and students in particular to cultivate the habit of reading. May 07 05
