GCB donates towards Aboakyer Festival

Winneba(CR), April 28, GNA - The management of Winneba branch of Ghana Commercial Bank on Monday presented a cheque for GHc1,000 towards the celebration of this year's Aboakyer Festival of the chiefs and people of Effutu Traditional Area.

Mr Edward A. Quaynor, branch manager who made the presentation at Winneba, said it was part of their social responsibility to the people. He commended the people for their patronage at the bank and pledge its support to assist them improve their living standards.

Neenyi Ghartey VII, Omanhene of Effutu Traditional Area, who received the cheque expressed appreciation for the gesture and pledged their cooperation with the bank.

The festival begins on Monday April 28 and would reach its climax on Saturday May 3 when members of the two Asafo companies, Dentsifo No. 2 and Tuafo No.1 would enter the bush to catch a live deer. The animal brought to the durbar grounds would be used to perform rituals for prosperity.
