Accra, Aug. 4 GNA - Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) Limited on Monday presented a cheque of GH¢ 20,000 to the Graphic Communication Group Limited (GCGL) to support this year's Daily Graphic Governance Dialogue programme.

The programme, which started two years ago, has been designed to provide a platform to highlight governance issues in Africa with the aim of improving the quality of life of the people. Issues relating to politics, social development, economics, peace and corporate governance are discussed at the dialogue. This year's dialogue is on the theme: "Effective Democratic Governance: The Role of stakeholders." The two-day forum would discuss the multi-dimensional aspect in governance of a nation, examination of the funding of governance institutions, building coalition and partnership for the achievement of greater results.

Mr. Lawrence Adu-Mante, Managing Director of GCB, speaking at the presentation said it was gratifying that an aspect of the dialogue had been dedicated to attracting investment. He said GCB as a lead bank of international repute was concerned with attracting capital and safeguarding it, adding that political and financial stability was also dear to the bank. Mr. Adu-Mante said the bank was happy to be associated with the programme as it consolidated the special and growing relationship between the two institutions. "We see this as part of our corporate social responsibility in consonance with GCB's desire to see democracy and corporate governance entrenched in our society. Banking and a booming economy thrive on a congenial and stable environment," he added.

Mr. Kwesi Owusu Asare, General Manager, Marketing and Public Affairs of GCGL, thanked GCB for its continuous support of the programme. He said the Graphic Governance Dialogue was a social responsibility programme that must be supported by all to help entrench democracy and good governance in the country.
