The Great Consolidated People’s Party (GCPP) has declared its readiness for the 2024 elections with Dr. Daniel Augustus Lartey Jnr as flagbearer.

At the party’s National Delegates Conference held on Thursday, Dr. Lartey Jnr was acclaimed alongside the new members of the National Executive Committee by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

Addressing the delegates after the acclamation, Dr. Augustus Lartey Jnr expressed his gratitude for the role handed to him and promised to execute an effective campaign that will guarantee success for the party.

Dr. Augustus Lartey Jnr disclosed that the campaign by the GCPP will be anchored on the dual principles of agriculture and technology.

He lamented that despite the vast agrarian lands available to the country, the nation is still import-dependent on food items and promised that if given the chance to lead the country, he will make the growth of the agriculture sector the cornerstone of the Ghanaian economy.

He believes that a fusion of agriculture and modern technology is extremely important to the socio-economic development of the country and that if given the nod, his government will invest heavily in technology.

Dr. Augustus Lartey Jnr urged the rank and file of the party to unite behind him as he bids to deliver the 2024 elections for the GCPP.

"This moment is not just a recommendation of my candidacy, but it’s a testament to the dedication and unwavering support of every member of our party, to our executives, volunteers, and all who have worked tirelessly to make this day possible. I extend my deepest appreciation for your efforts, commitments, and belief in our shared vision as the driving force that brought us here together. As we now embark on this campaign, our mission is echoed on two critical pillars: agriculture and technology.

"Agriculture is the backbone of our economy. For too long, we have neglected the potential of this vital sector. Under my leadership of the GCPP, we will usher in a new era of agricultural reform centred around domestication. We can’t do without domestication. We will encourage every household to grow, eat, and sell from their available land, creating a grassroots economic revolution.

"We will provide our farmers with the tools, resources, and access to credit they need to thrive while promoting sustainable practices that protect our environment and ensure food security for generations to come.

"Now I come to technology. We are living in a world where technology drives innovation and growth. The GCPP envisions a Ghana where technology is woven into the fabric of our society. We will invest in a digital infrastructure that connects every corner of our country, promotes digital literacy, and creates an environment where tech startups can thrive. Through technology, we will enhance healthcare delivery, improve educational outcomes, and open new doors for job creation, especially for the youth."

On his part, the General Secretary of the GCPP, Citizen Ato Dadzie, called for unity among all perceived small parties in the country to establish a third force that will break the political duopoly enjoyed by the NPP and NDC.

He criticized the government for its failure to deal with the illegal mining canker, challenging President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to adopt the fight as his personal project and invest time and resources into the protection of Ghana’s water and forest reserves.

He noted that Ghana is in discord and the need for harmony is now more pressing than ever, expressing the belief that the government of the GCPP will be able to lead the country and bring development.

The new GCPP executives include Dr. Henry Herbert Lartey as Chairman, Theodore Buatsi as 1st vice chair, Cynthia Atta as 2nd Vice Chair, Citizen Ato Dadzie as General Secretary, George Amoah as National Organizer, Nora Gyempeh as National Women’s Organizer, Jude Balma as National Youth Organizer, Kaiser Ablorh as National Treasurer, and Alhassan Issahaku as National Education Secretary.
