The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) has organised a four-day training in export marketing fundamentals for various exporters across the country.
The training aims at equipping and supporting the exporters to acquire managerial, technical and trade skills, to provide them the headway in the export of their products in the global marketplace.
The programme took the exporters through courses such as export marketing research, costing and pricing, legal contracts and negotiations, export rules and regulations, sanitary and phytosanitary specification and International Trade Fairs.
Addressing the exporters on the importance of trade fairs, Mrs Agnes Gifty Adjei-Sam, Deputy Director Research and Trade Information, said the International Trade fairs provide opportunities for product presentation, assessment of buyer reaction and reaching the unknown, among others.
She said it is incumbent on exporters to get all the information about the trade fairs to participate in, including information for planning and budgeting.
Mrs Adjei-Sam said participating in trade fairs, although expensive, yield good results, but urged the exporters to be selective in the types of fairs to participate in.
Speaking at the closing session, Mr Stephen Normashie, General Manager GEPA, asked the exporters to use the knowledge acquired at the training to enhance their performance in the field.
He urged the participants to network among themselves and share information to improve on their performance.
