GES/GNAT Standing Joint Negotiating Committee given ultimatum

Accra, Dec. 14, GNA - The Standing Joint Negotiating Committee of Ghana Education Service (GES) and Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) have been asked to negotiate all outstanding issues concerning the Collective Agreement of teachers within two weeks. The National Labour Commission (NLC) which issued the ultimatum also directed the Committee to report the outcome of any such negotiation to the NLC not later than Monday, December 28.

Accra, Dec. 14, GNA - The Standing Joint Negotiating Committee of Ghana Education Service (GES) and Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) have been asked to negotiate all outstanding issues concerning the Collective Agreement of teachers within two weeks. The National Labour Commission (NLC) which issued the ultimatum also directed the Committee to report the outcome of any such negotiation to the NLC not later than Monday, December 28. These were contained in a statement issued in Accra on Monday and signed by Mr. Edward Briku-Boadu, Executive Secretary of NLC, after a meeting between the General Secretary of GNAT and the Director-General of the GES. It asked all teachers who had embarked on sit-down strike to call off their action immediately and resume normal duties adding that "All parties should comply with the directives". t.
