The Management and Staff of Ghana Education Service (GES) on Friday, reminded organised labour of the commitment of the service in on-going negotiations at the Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) being superintended by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC).
A May Day congratulatory message, signed on behalf of the service by Charles Parker-Allotey, the GES threw its weight behind organised labour under the service, namely; National Association of Graduate Teachers, Ghana National Association of Teachers and Teachers and Educational Workers Union in the negotiations. "We salute our gallant teachers and non-teachers for the dedication and sacrifices exhibited over the years in their
quest to ensure quality education delivery and the achievement of our collective goal of Education for all. "Contrary to the view held by some of the unions about the apparent silence of GES over the non-implementation of the
Collective Agreement reached by the JNC and superintended by the FWSC, the GES Management is in active collaboration
with the appropriate MDAs (Ministries, Departments and Agencies) to ensure implementation of the joint agreement." The statement said the GES implored organised labour to eschew all form of suspicion, which would culminate in labour
unrest with the resultant threat to the peace needed for the growth of democracy in the country. It assured the unions of its continued collaboration with all partners in education delivery for the speedy
implementation of the joint agreement and other accords to satisfy the teeming workers.
