A ten-day-training workshop for district and regional officers of the Ghana Education Service (GES) on the new Standards-Based Curriculum is underway across the Country.
A statement issued by Ms Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of Public Relations of the Service and copied to the Ghana news agency said Dr Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, the Deputy Director General of GES, speaking at the opening session held at the Koforidua Technical University, admonished the teachers to fully commit themselves to the training so as to become trainers of trainees.
Dr Tandoh said beyond the training, there would be an establishment for Professional Learning Communities to further grant teachers the opportunities to meet and discuss issues on the new curriculum, the statement said.
“That will be in addition to the regular in-service training that will occur frequently to appraise teachers on new developments on the curriculum,” the statement cited Dr Tandoh as saying.
Participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to be upgraded.
