The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) has extended a gesture of support to the Ghana Prisons Service as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations.

A team from the Authority, led by Deputy CEO (Finance & Administration) Musah Sibiri Hamidu and Deputy CEO (Operations) Lateef Apau Wiredu, undertook a donation exercise at the Prisons Service on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

The visit followed an earlier meeting between top management of the two institutions on July 14, 2025, at the GFZA Head Office, where discussions centered on potential areas of collaboration.

In his remarks, Hamidu said the Authority’s 30th anniversary presented an opportunity to strengthen partnerships and provide support to key institutions.

“As part of our anniversary activities, the GFZA decided to support the Prisons Service with a donation of essential items,” he stated.

Wiredu reiterated GFZA’s commitment to national development and the importance of building strong collaborations with institutions such as the Ghana Prisons Service.

He also invited the Service to actively participate in the Authority’s ongoing anniversary activities.

Items donated included laptops, toiletries, bags of rice, and assorted food items.

The Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, expressed gratitude to the GFZA, describing the donation as “thoughtful and timely.”

She noted that the gesture marked the beginning of a promising partnership and commended GFZA for fostering collaboration.

Baffoe-Bonnie also extended an invitation to GFZA to make use of the Prisons Service’s sporting facilities.

Also present during the handover were GFZA’s Director of Human Resources, Evelyn Oye Asante, Senior Manager (Corporate Affairs) Bilal Muazu Sulemana, and other staff members.

The donation underscores GFZA’s commitment to supporting national institutions while celebrating three decades of service and excellence.
