The Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, has said the Ghana Health Service (GHS) will issue guidelines to the Ghana Employers Association and other industries to follow in curbing the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, speaking at a press briefing today, reiterated that the strategies to be instituted on May 15, 2020, must be followed by employees and employers.

“At the workplace, we shouldn’t be crowded. By tomorrow we may have come out with guidelines to guide employers and employees such that workplace practices will begin to cut the spread and bring the positivity down.

Ghana’s coronavirus case has increased to 5530 as at May 14, 2020. The recoveries and death counts remain at 674 and 24 at respectively.

Following the spike in recorded cases, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Aboagye, said majority of the new cases were recorded from workplaces.

He encouraged that, "Let's create the necessary space at workplaces because they are becoming hotspots," he said.

The Health Minister averred that should all precautionary be followed, then “we have won the battle.”

He, however, added that failure to wear nose masks as one of the precautionary measures against COVID-19 means, “very soon, we will see the police arresting some of us for being recalcitrant.”
