The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has presented computers and accessories to Nsawkaw R/C , Menji D/A and Seikwa R/C Junior High Schools (JHSs) in the Tain District of the Bono Region.
Each of the three schools had 10 desktop computers, 10 UPS and 10 Information Communication and Technology (ICT) cassettes and a satellite dish to provide free internet access to teachers and students.
The broad objective is to enhance teaching and learning of (ICT), as part of GIFEC’s school connectivity project, which seeks to bridge the digital gap between the rural communities and the urban centres.
It is also to facilitate practical lessons in the teaching and learning of ICT in basic schools to enhance the knowledge of ICT in the country.
Mr. Arnold Johnson, the GIFEC’s Zonal Manager for Bono, Bono East and the Ahafo Regions, who presented the computers, thanked the Management of the beneficiary schools and the communities for building ICT Centres for the efficient use of the computers.
Mr. Johnson said the items were obtained through the combined efforts of Ms Charity Akua Foriwaa Dwomoh, the District Chief Executive (DCE) and Mr. Gabriel Osei, the Member of Parliament for Tain.
He urged the school authorities to manage the items properly for the pupils and students in the District.
Mr. Nicholas Kumi Achiaw, the District Coordinating Director, who received the items on behalf of the DCE expressed appreciation for the donation and appealed to the GIFEC to extend the gesture to other schools in the District.
