GIFF Donates To TGH

Tema, July 02, GNA -- The Tema District of Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF) has donated items worth thirty million cedis to the Tema General Hospital.

The items included one lawn mower, four preset radio, 100 plastic chairs, ten mops, 50 bed sheets and pillow cases as well as assorted medical supplies consisting of examination gloves, oxygen and catheter. Mr Wilberforce Addae, Tema District Chairman of GIFF, donating the items stated that the donation was in fulfilment of their social obligation to the community in which they operate. He said, it was also in recognition of the hospital's contributions to the residents of the Tema Municipality and its surroundings adding , "I am sure if this hospital has not been here, a lot us would have been dead".

Mrs Bernice Asempa, Tema District Administrator of GIFF told the Ghana News Agency that, The Tema District consists of 80 per cent of the national freight forwarders.

She noted that, the donation to the hospital was made possible through individual contributions of GIFF members stating that, this was their first donation and GIFF would continue to donate to the hospital. She called on other cooperate bodies and NGOs to continue to donate to the hospitals as it still needs a lot more to facilitate its responsibility of providing good health to the public. Receiving the items, Madam Josephine Tamakloe, Principal Nursing Officer of the hospital's OPD thanked the institute, while stating that, the items would go along way to improve their services. Earlier before the donation, members of GIFF undertook a two-hour clean-up exercise on the hospital's premises. 02 July 06
