A section of the non-teaching staff of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) have hailed management of the school’s initiative which allows them to enroll in various Diploma and Degree programmes in the school.
In all, five non-teaching staff members from various departments including the department of maintenance, registry, reception and the security post are benefiting from the scholarship programme with three of them successfully graduating.
A security man and a Level 400 student, Nicholas Okai, commended management of the institute for taking such a remarkable step.
“It is unusual for management of any reputable institution such as the GIJ to show concern to its non-teaching staff especially the security personnel”, Mr. Nicholas Okai asserted advising other school’s to emulate this gesture.
He praised the Rector of GIJ, Dr. Wilberforce Dzisah for encouraging them to take up a course to upgrade themselves.
