The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has honoured Mrs Gifty Affenyi-Dadzie for her marked contribution towards the improvement in the media landscape and the astute leadership she offered to the Association as its Vice-President and President, respectively.

On behalf of the Association, the executives celebrated the Former Council of State Member with a citation at a church service, organised at the Accra International Conference Centre to mark her 60th Birthday, on Sunday.

“For Your distinguished contribution to the development of the Ghana Journalists Association , in particular and the Ghanaian media in general, and for your exemplary participation in public service, the GJA congratulates you and wishes you long life; good health and above all, God’s Blessings,” the citation read.

“The GJA would always be proud of you. God richly bless you!”



Some prominent personalities, including Mrs Justice Theodora Georgina Wood, the immediate past Chief Justice; Ms Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration; and Madam Otiko Djaba, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, attended the Service, which was dubbed, “Magnify the Lord with me”.

Mr Kwamena Bartels, a Former Information Minister in the Kufuor Administration and Brigadier Obed Akwa, the Chief of Defence Staff were also at the’ all-white attire’ service, likewise a huge number of family and friends, including her better half, Mr K. T. Dadzie.

Mrs Affenyi-Dadzie who turned 60, on June 17, thanked God for His mercies, favours and blessings, which had seen her through the years with ceaseless praises in songs and words.

She also expressed gratitude to those who had helped in her in diverse ways to sail through the storms of life and prayed for them to excel in life.

Earlier in an exhortation, the Reverend Mrs Emma Boadi, a member of Aglow, extolled the works of their Prayer Director, whom she said, was very passionate about in propagating the word of God to people from all walks of life in Ghana and beyond.

She urged Christians to follow the teachings of Christ to be able to overcome their challenges so that they would not be left behind when Jesus returned.

The Former Chairman of the National Media Commission, Mr Kabral Blay Amihere, later launched an autobiography of Mrs Affenyi-Dadzie, in which she paid tribute to those who helped her to climb the ladder of success and comforted her in her trying moments.
