GJA election ends

Kumasi, March 09, GNA - Mr Ransford Tetteh polled nine votes as against seven by Miss Sarah Akrofi-Quarcoo in the race for the President of the Ghana Journalists Association's (GJA) elections which ended in the Ashanti region on Thursday.

In the Vice-presidential polls, Mrs Charity Binka had nine votes as against eight by Mr Affail Monney.


Miss Yaa Oforiwaa Acquah polled 14 votes to retain her post as treasurer as against four votes for Miss Esi Asante. Mr Dave Agbenu secured nine votes in the position for the organising secretary as against eight votes by Mr Alfred Ogbamey.

Sarah beats Ransford in Takoradi

Sekondi, March 09, GNA - Ms Sarah Akrofi-Quarcoo, Chief Editor of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) polled six votes as against five by Mr Thomas Ransford Tetteh News Editor of Daily Graphic for the post of National President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in the Western Region.


In the elections supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr Affail Monney of GBC who contested for the post of vice-president beat Mrs Charity Binka also of GBC by six votes to five votes. Mr Alfred Ogbamey Managing Editor of Gye Nyame Concord beat Dave Agbenu of the Ghanaian Times by eight votes to three votes for the post of Organising secretary.

Ms Yaa Oforiwah Acquah of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and incumbent Treasurer polled nine votes as against two by Mrs Esi Asante of the Ghanaian Times for the post of Treasurer.


In the GJA regional elections, four executives were elected unopposed. They are Mr George Amihere Naykene of the GNA, Chairman, Mr Asiedu Abban Marfo of Daily Graphic, Vice-chairman, Mr Emmanuel Akli of Chronicle, Treasurer and Mr Mark Essien of Daily Guide, Secretary.
