GJA unveils award winners for its 15th awards celebration

Accra, Aug. 19, GNA- The Ghana Journalists Association on Thursday unveiled its 31 award winners for its 15th awards celebration in Accra.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Edward Ameyibor, a member of the Awards Committee, said the winners were selected from 271 entries in all and 33 award categories.

He noted that the committee decided not to give awards in six categories because they could not get enough entries and even those that came in were sub standard.

"We decided to prune the categories from the initial 39 categories to 33 due to the submission of poor pieces by those who sent entries for such categories", he said.

He cited inaccuracy, lack of background to stories and lack of clarity as some of the reasons for dropping some entries.

He appealed to the GJA to occasionally organise workshops for its members on how to write award winning stories.
