GNA union elects new executives

The staff of Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Friday elected new executive members of the Local Public Services Workers' Union (PSWU) for a three-year term.

Mr. Enock Antwi, an Editor on the Foreign Desk won the Chairmanship with 58 votes as against 52 by the incumbent, Mr A. S. Adjei of the Printing Department.

The first vice chairman position went to Christian A. Sackey, an Editor on the Home Desk who polled 61 votes as against 46 by Mr Christian Agubretu, Deputy News Editor.

Mrs Joyce Emefa Kabo, a Stenographer Secretary, was returned unopposed as the second vice chairperson.

Mr Daniel Kenu a Senior Sports Reporter was elected Secretary. He polled 56 votes to beat Mr A.A. Blay, Chief Reporter on the Home Desk who had 52 votes.

Mr Peter Ennin, Internal Auditor, beat Mr Gideon Sackitey, a senior reporter by 57-53 votes for the post of Vice Secretary while the position of First Trustee went to Mr Alex Quarshie of the Accounts Department. He beat Mr Kenneth Sackey, a Reporter, by 57-49 votes.

The position of second trustee went to Mr Moses Bawa of Editorial Administration, who polled 58 votes as against 50 by Mrs Linda Asante-Adjei, a Reporter.

Mr. Boakye-Dankwa Boadi, Senior Editor and the Electoral Officer who addressed the staff after declaring the results described the elections as keenly contested.
