The Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF) has formally petitioned the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to take disciplinary action against Dr David Tenkorang Twum, General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA).

The Association is seeking action against Dr Tenkorang due to what it deems as “derogatory and unprovoked” comments.

In a statement released by GNAFF, it referenced a radio interview Dr Tenkorang had on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme on August 22, 2025, wherein he allegedly made offensive remarks about the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, as well as Ghanaian farmers.

The Association maintains that such conduct is unbecoming of a professional leader whose position demands integrity and respect.

The statement, signed by its President, Michael Tetteh Kwetey, and General Secretary, Dr Abutu Kapori, GNAFF stated that it had earlier called on Dr Tenkorang to retract his remarks and apologise to farmers and fishermen within 24 hours but he failed to comply.

“Farmers and fishermen are the backbone of Ghana’s economy and food security. It is therefore deeply troubling and unacceptable that the leader of a professional association such as GRNMA would use such offensive language to denigrate them,” the petition read.
