GNPC secures land to move Head Office to Western Region

The Chief Finance Officer of the National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Mrs. Comfort Aniagyei has disclosed that processes are far advanced to enable the entity to acquire a land for the relocation of the company's Operational Head Office to Takoradi in the Western Region next year.

She indicated that the company is in the concluding stage to finalise the necessary documentation with the landowners and hopefully a foundation will be laid to begin the contraction of the office in Takoradi.

The move, according to the Chief Finance Officer of the GNPC will bring the development associated with the oil find and its operations closer to the people of the Western Region.

The Chief Finance Officer of the National Petroleum Corporation, Mrs Comfort Aniagyei made known at the Breaking Session of the 5th National Policy Summit which was themed "Making the Best Ghana's Oil-The Role of GNPC". The National Policy Summit (NPS) is a major flagship programme of the Ministry of Information and a Public-Private initiative by Universal Merchant Bank.

The Summit is designed to bring together policymakers and business leaders to explore mutually beneficial ways of achieving the nation's objective. The main objectives of the NPS include the following: promoting social accountability in public access to Information and enhancing the capacity of the media for sustainable development communication, accountability and press freedom.

The two-day Summit is a platform for explaining government policies, plans and programmes, outlining their objectives, scope and specific areas that Private capital is required to achieve set goals.

During the Break Session, issues of the relocation of GNPC head office to the Western Region became a matter of discussion.

President Nana Akufo-Addo ahead of 2916 general elections made a promise to relocate the GNPC Head Office to Western Region.

It is believed that the eventual relocation should make the residents of the Western Region hugely benefit from the commercial exploration of oil and gas in the Region.

Mrs. Aniagyei the Chief Finance Officer of the GNPC said foundation for the construction of the Operational Head Office of the company would begin next year.

The Omanhene of Lower Dixcove in the Western Region, Nana Kwesi Agyeman IX expressed disappointment over how GNPC is relating to the people of the region with regards to the oil find.
