GOC to celebrate 2019 Olympic Day Run in Koforidua

The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), will on Saturday, June 29, celebrate the 2019 edition of the Olympic Day Run in Koforidua, in the Eastern Region.

Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the GOC who announced this on Tuesday in Accra, when Toyoto Ghana announced a sponsorship package for his outfit, said the day would be marked with Health Walk, Aerobics and a Tree Planting exercise.

According to the GOC President, all participants who would be able to finish the walk would receive certificates from the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

He said Toyota Ghana would be the sponsors of the Olympic Day Run and had already donated 500 branded “T” Shirts for participants on the day.

Mr. Nunoo Mensah expressed appreciation to Toyota Ghana for the support, adding that the event would be full of fun and called on all fitness loving people to participate.

Mr. Isaac Aboagye Duah, chairman of the planning committee for the Olympic Day Run activities said the support from Toyota Ghana came at the right time and hoped many sports fans would come out to participate in the Olympic Day Run.

Olympic Day Run is an international Olympic Movement activity which is aimed at promoting mass participation of sports. It is an IOC sanctioned event held in June and organized by National Olympic Committees (NOCs).

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) was formally established on 23 June 1894 through the efforts of Pierre de Coubertin promoting competitive sport as a revival of the ancient Olympic Games
