Kintampo (B/A), July 30, GNA- Mr Yak Seidu, Chairman of Kintampo District Branch of Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), has appealed to the Ministry of Roads and Transport to divert from a dangerous portion between the Kintampo Water Falls and Babator on the Kintampo-Tamale road.

He told Ghana News Agency at Kintampo on Wednesday that the spot was a scene of many accidents resulting in the loss of many lives adding that between January and June, this year, more than 20 fatal accidents had occurred at the place.

The GPRTU Chairman also suggested to the government to open offices for the Internal Revenue Services (IRS) at all district capitals to enhance collection of revenue.

Mr. Seidu suggested to the authorities of the Vehicle and Licensing Division (VELD) to open offices at the district capitals to enable transport owners and drivers to easily process their documents. Mr Seidu said the system whereby vehicle owners and drivers travelled to the Regional capitals to process their papers was time consuming in view of the large number of people engaged in the transport sector.
