The Majority has accused the Minority of misleading Ghanaians and spreading falsehoods due to electioneering motives.

Speaking at a press conference in Parliament on June 5, Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin stated that the Minority has made it a hallmark in doing things that makes the government look bad for political gain.

Reacting to a recent NDC press conference that questioned the parliamentary approval process and alleged that state agencies were signing multi-year contracts without parliamentary approval, Afenyo-Markin said the NDC's assertions were incorrect.

He clarified that Article 181(5) of the Constitution emphasizes international contracts, not local ones like the one between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML).

"SML is a Ghanaian-owned company, and their (Minority's) demand that the SML contract should have come to Parliament because it's a multi-year contract is wrong. Article 181 has sub-clauses. It is up to them to pay attention to the aspects of the law that require parliamentary approval," Afenyo-Markin explained.

"Local contracts and MOUs cannot come under Article 181(5), and the Minority is throwing it out and confusing people," he further stated.

The Majority also accused the NDC of recklessly putting out comments that scare investors, thereby affecting government efforts.
