Musician and political commentator Kwame Asare Obeng, known by all as A Plus has described as deliberate the fire which has engulfed premises of the Ghana Revenue Authority at Ring Road-Circle in Accra.
The fire which started around 8 according to eye witnesses, swept across the top floors of the storey-building and raged on for over two hours before fire service personnel brought it under control.
Although the cost of damages incurred in the blaze is yet to be ascertained, the ardent critic of the NPP led government says he is convinced someone has squandered money at the institution and is trying to cover up.
In a Facebook post sighted by www.ghanaweb.com, Kwame A Plus averred that: “Circle GRA office on fire. Somebody chop money wey auditors dey come be that.”
“Ghana de3 everything is possible,” he added
Director of Public Relations of the Ghana Fire Service, Ellis Robinson, disclosed that his outfit had a major challenge accessing the building.
“It is because we don’t have access to the building. They are using the window instead of opening doors and other things so we can pass through and get to the place. Everything was locked. We gained access to the place through the back window.”
Meanwhile, Board Chairman of the Ghana Revenue Authority has hinted that contrary to speculations, no monies have been lost in the inferno.
The cause of the fire remains unknown as investigations are yet to be done.
