GRA supports NHFB with water storage facility

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has supported the New Horizon Foundation of the Blind (NHFB) in Ho with a water storage facility.

The 6,000 litre water tank estimated at GHC2,800.00 is to enable children with visual impairment at the Foundation's educational centre harvest rain water to solve its water challenges.

Mr Kwame Owusu- Bamfo, Assistant Commissioner, GRA, in charge of the Ho Medium Taxpayer Office said the support was necessary because the Foundation was playing crucial role in the holistic development of children and young people with visual impairment.

He said the money used to purchase the item was from morning devotion collections, and was grateful to the staff of the Authority.

Mr Anthony Dekagbe, Chief Revenue Officer at the Small Taxpayer Office of the Authority entreated management of the Foundation to ensure proper maintenance of the item and also put it to good use. Mr Eric Kwablah Ofori, Director of the Foundation was grateful to the Authority for the gesture, saying, “It is timely and splendid.”

He said the item would encourage children at the school to observe the regular hand washing protocol to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus and stop the situation where children with visual impairment combed the community for water. He appealed to Government to prioritise the needs of children with disabilities and also urged parents to support them to develop their potentials.

NHFB is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with focus on providing support and empowerment to children and young people who are blind or partially sighted to promote their rights to education, health, nutrition, welfare and employment.
