The President of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana at the University of Ghana (GRASAG-UG), Ferdinand Fosu-Blankson, has said his administration will work diligently to improve student welfare.

He said his administration aims to raise the association’s international profile by providing facilities that will enable graduate students with children to pursue their studies without unnecessary distractions.

Ferdinard Blankson, Samuel Yeboah elected GRASAG-UG President and Vice President

“Our goal is to try to push the association to the level of international recognition. One of the few things that matters to us is the issue of hosting graduate students who are mothers and have children.

"So we want to do a nursing programme where we can create a room or a place where graduate students who come in with their children to study, to have studies, wouldn't have such challenges,” he told the media during the handing-over ceremony held at the University of Ghana SRC Union Building on October 21, 2026.

Fosu-Blankson added that his administration would prioritise the maintenance and renovation of GRASAG-UG properties that are in a deplorable state, including facilities on satellite campuses, to improve students’ academic experience.

“It is quite amazing that you are asking me this question. Right after this ceremony, one of the executives on one of our satellite campuses just showed me that one of our projects is down because of the rains, and a tree broke it down. The maintenance culture within every association is important to carry its project onward because, as we stand, we stand to support students.

“So, catering and caring for other programmes. The other projects that we've done before are one of the key things that we are going to do. For a start, at the beginning of our admissions, there are a lot of renovation works that we have to do, trying to put in a system that can maintain graduate students' projects and also come in for the welfare of graduate students,” he added.
