Accra, May 27, GNA- Dr Osei K. Darkwa, President of the Ghana Telecom University College (GTUC) on Wednesday expressed the determination of the school to use the latest Information Communication Technology (ICT) and facilities for the their training and development of students of the school.
He said the school had also created partnerships with several universities in Germany to enable GTUC students pursue further studies in that country.
Dr Darkwa was speaking at the GTUC Business School Language Centre open-day activity to introduce the teaching and learning of English, French, German and later Chinese at the centre. For now, the Language Centre is offering students the opportunity to learn German language in four months after which they would be helped to further their education in preferred specialization in Germany as well as make them marketable world-wide.
Dr Darkwa said language development was critical to ICT growth and has the potential to create opportunities for GTUC students over their contemporaries.
He said the new GTUC language centre was different from other language centres in the country because of its latest language laboratories and modern softwares which provides studies in languages without a student coming into contact with the lecturer. He gave the assurance that the centre would be expanded very soon to cover other languages such as French and Chinese. Professor Ebo Thompson, Director, Language Centre, GTUC said the vision of the centre is to be the most efficient and innovative Language Centre within Ghana and the sub-region.
He said the studying of German and other languages by GTUC students in addition to their main courses gives them added advantage over their generation in other schools.
