The Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) formerly National Youth Employment Programme is to employ university graduates to help the beneficiaries whose West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results are not good.

The graduates would help the recipients to better their results to enable them to enter tertiary institutions, Nana Oseibi, Central Regional Director of the Agency, said this at a meeting with the beneficiaries whose term of service had ended

He said the purpose of the programme was to encourage the beneficiaries to use the two-year programme to better their results to enable them to further their education and for those who wanted to acquire skills to do so.

Unfortunately, Nana Oseibi said many of the recipients passed through the programme without achieving the aim.

He urged the beneficiaries who were interested in continuing the programme to re-apply with copies of recommendations from their employers.

Mr Alex Gyimah, District Director of the Agency, expressed concern about the attitude of some beneficiaries towards work and said those who performed creditably would not find it difficult to get recommendation from their employers.

He commended the government for providing equipment to the beneficiaries who opted for acquisition of skills to enable them set up their own businesses.
