Ga East Assembly to improve upon revenue collection

Abokobi (G/A), Aug 26, GNA - The Ga East Municipal Assembly, has put in place strategies to improve on revenue mobilisation, to enable it to generate more funds for development projects. It has warned all persons, putting up buildings without obtaining requisite permits, to do so to avoid any embarrassment from the Assembly's Revenue Taskforce.

Mr John Kwao Sackey, Ga East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), in an interview with Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, expressed worry that about 3,000 building permits have been approved by the Assembly but the owners have failed to collect the documents. He said the taskforce would undertake an exercise to inspect building permits of people putting up new buildings. Mr Sackey called on members of the Assembly to educate land developers on proper building procedures and documentation. He said the Assembly has approved GH¢25,000 of its share of the Common Fund to rehabilitate the old slaughter house in the Municipality, and also provide it with modern equipment.

Mr Jonas Amanu, Greater Accra Environmental Health Officer, who paid a courtesy call on the MCE, as part of his visit to the Municipality, asked the Assembly to improve upon sanitation in the area. The Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Mr Joseph Quacoe, appealed to the Vertinary Services to assist butchers in the work to enable the produce wholesome meant.
