The President of the Volta Regional house of chiefs, Togbe Afede XIV is calling on the Chiefs of Ga State to bury their differences and work towards the development of the Ga state.

According to him, the recent tensions that have surfaced amongst them does not augur well for national development.

There have been reports conflict over the burial of the late Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Tawiah III with a faction claiming he was not a royal and therefore undeserving of a Royal burial but speaking to Citi News, Togbe Afede XIV insists, national interest should override personal issues.

“With the Ga state, it is an extremely sad story because given the potential that exists in Ga land; a strong chieftaincy can lead to compliment government effort at bringing development to the people,” he said.

Togbe Afede further mentioned, “It is my expectation that the chiefs will realize that chieftaincy is not an end in itself but the essence is to bring development to the people and therefore we should subscribe to this fundamental purpose of the institution and needs of the people and therefore bury our own selfish desires to further the cause of the people.”

“We need to bury our differences so we can solve our problems so that chieftaincy in Ga land can become more credible so that people can unite behind their chiefs to bring further development to the Ga State,” he added.
