There were at least 3 survivals in the first instant, 2 of them arrived in Ghana Town(A Ghanaian fishing community in The Gambia) and the other survival who could be Martin Kyere who managed to get to Senegal.
The two who arrived in Ghana Town narrated their ordeal just before the bodies of the dead ones where found near the Ghanaian settlement. The elders of Ghana Town handed them over to the Gambian security agencies for further investigation. It was difficult for sane persons to believe that security agencies could have been involved in the killing that was probably the reason for handing them over to the Gambian security men though the 2 revealed before they were handed over that the security men were those who did the killing. If they have still not been released to the Ghanaian Government then I believe The Gambian Government is ready for the worse. I will refer readers to this article on Ghanaweb; http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/artikel.php?ID=89043 This was close to the event and the writer(s) contributed greatly to getting the Ghanaian Government to send the Foreign Minister to ascertain issues on the ground.
As further investigation is currently on I just wish to bring out a few things that could help the media to ask the appropriate question and at the right time and also get readers more informed and at best make the information they gather more credible. Lots have been written on this issue some of which have forced the Ministry of Foreign affairs to respond. Most of them can be found on Ghanaweb.
My reaction is based on the interview of the “lone survival” Martin Kyere. I did not hear the interview but rather read the reports by daily guide which was mainly based on the said interview. It could would helpful if the said interview is put on the air.
