The police in the Ashanti Region have arrested one of the seven boys who allegedly gang-raped a teenager and recorded the act at Bantama, Kumasi.
The police have refused to give the name and other details of the suspect, who is believed to be a teenager.
The latest arrest, which occurred on Wednesday, brings to four the number of teenagers that are in police custody for allegedly gang-raping the teenage girl (name withheld).
COP Ken Yeboah, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, who confirmed the Wednesday arrest, declined to comment about his whereabouts.
Before press time, the police boss said it was likely that the fourth suspect would be taken to court yesterday so that he would be remanded into juvenile cells like the three other suspects whilst investigation continued.
Three of the suspects had earlier been arrested and remanded by a juvenile court in Kumasi till after the Christmas festivities.
A video of seven young boys – some of who are students in Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) – shows them gang-raping a hapless-looking teenage girl last weekend.
The discovery of the obscene video compelled the police to intensify investigations which led to the arrest of three of the suspects from their hideouts at Bantama last weekend.
