Management of the Garden City Special School in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region has told Ultimate1069.com that it is in dire need of resources to help run activities of the school.

The school is one of the few in the country that caters to children with special needs. Some of the children admitted to the school include those born with Autism, Cerebral Palsy and other neurological disorders.

Although pupils do not pay tuition fees, government’s subvention, especially feeding grant to run the facility, does not come on time according to school authorities.

The Garden City Special School has over the years had to rely on the benevolence of corporate bodies, institutions and individuals to survive.

It has now ventured into rabbit farming as a source of alternative financing to sustain the school.

Headmistress of the School, Dr .Rosalind Agyepong is however optimistic that this initiative will go a long way to fill any financial gaps until any other form comes their way.

The visit to the Garden City Special School forms part of the build-up to the World Autism Day which falls every April 2.

This year’s day which will be observed on Saturday, requires that every individual wears the colour blue to create awareness on Autism.

Money to maintain some vehicles which were donated to the school remains a challenge.
