The Chairman of the National Peace Council Most Rev. Professor Emmanuel Asante has called on Ghanaians not to view gays, lesbians and bisexuals as beasts and enemies.
The Man of God advised Ghanaians to love homosexuals and not to hate them saying they need psychologically help but not hatred.
He indicated that homosexuals are human beings who have rights.
Speaking with Francis Abban on Morning Starr, Rev. Asante said ‘Love homosexuals but hate homosexuality. I believe they can be helped psychologically. We shouldn’t look at them as enemies or beasts. They have rights and are human beings. It’s illegal and we can’t condone it but we can help them. I believe they can be helped psychologically. We shouldn’t look at them as enemies or beasts’.
He urged the Akufo-Addo’s government not to give in to international pressure of decriminilising homosexuality.
‘I will urge the government not to give in to international pressure of things that will bring in things of this nature. The religious bodies should strengthen their evangelism,’ he advised.
He indicated it is wrong to subject homosexuals to maltreatment though their sexual preference is not legal.
