Some residents of Gbese want the Gbese Mantse of the Ga-State, Nii Ayi Bonte II to step down following his promise to abdicate his traditional stool, should the National Democratic Congress(NDC) lose the general elections.

There were social media trolling and calls for him to honour his words and step down just as he[Chief] challenged ahead of the 2016 polls.

However, his own subjects who feel disgusted about his daring pronouncements have also waded into such calls insisting that he must step down as the Gbetse Mantse to keep his words.

Residents say he should be removed forcefully on the back of the blunder caused as a revered Chief of the Ga-State.

“He must just leave the throne as he claimed on that faithful day, and as an indigene I feel he should just leave the throne before 7th January. Because if he knew what is coming after him, I don’t think it is going to be at the safer side to still sit on the throne, a local who only gave his name as Coffie said.

Meanwhile, the Gbese Chief, known in private life as Tommy Okai has subsequently gone silent over the matter after the party he endorsed suffered a big defeat. Nonetheless he was surprisingly found on Tuesday seated among the crowd and a host of chiefs who had gathered when the president-elect Nana Akufo-Addo called on the Ga Traditional Council at Dodowa.

At the meeting, he was seen fully dressed in a chief’s regalia but had gone to sit far behind the crowd where he could not be easily notified, reports said.
