General IB Quartey, the Commander of the Support Services Brigade Group with its headquarters in Burma Camp near the Military Police wants the editor of the DAYBREAK newspaper, Prince Prah "to be eliminated soon before he causes more havoc".
General Quartey is alleged to have uttered these words on Wednesday 22nd September 2010, a day after the holiday marking Founder's day at Burma Camp at the Support Services Brigade Group headquarters.
IB as he is called was meeting with all Commanding Officers of his Brigade and all the newly posted officers who had completed their regimental training and were to join their mother units within his Brigade Group between 9am and 11am on that fateful day.
The day in question, Wednesday 22nd September 2010, coincided with the front page headline 'Armed Forces Pack of Lies Exposed' and IB having read a copy of the issue got very incensed that he called his 'War Cabinet' made of two Commanding officers of Defence Signal Regiment and Forces Pay Office.
The General called his cabinet members at which he told them "charlie we for stop this Prince Prah man immediately otherwise ego cause havoc” and his cabinet who have an insensate hatred for our editor bought the idea of their superior officer and allegedly pledged their support.
The Commanding Officer of Forces Pay Office who according to this paper's intelligence is under investigations for allegedly depositing arrears meant for officers and men as fixed deposits so that he and others can enjoy the interests agreed to pay for all the financial commitments while the Commanding Officer of the Defence Signal Regiment also agreed to parade personnel and communication equipment and facilities for the operations to be conducted as a matter of urgency.
Already, General IB is believed to have been given a special vehicle mark IV Toyota Landcruiser from the seat of Government for the special operation of dealing with our editor in his own words.
When our editor called the General on Wednesday 27October 2010; he could not answer or deny whether he told his war cabinet to deal with our editor but said 'I am not allowed to speak to the press' after agreeing to talk to our editor.
According to our editor who is un-shaken by the General plots, ' the General should be mindful of politicians and recent occurrences in the GAF. He would do well to behave as a professional soldier and eschew all political attractions associated with the current government because no condition is and can ever be permanent' stressing that he and his 'cabinet can bring it on and we would see who would loose in the end.'
This paper has also learnt that General IB Quartey is being sponsored for appointment as Force Commander with the United Nations in either Sudan, Somalia or DR Congo, having returned from the latter in 2009 after a year’s operation with the UN as a Sector Commander and Deputy Force Commander hence his interest in undertaking the operation to deal with our editor who most people in the security set up consider as a 'stubborn cat'.
