The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Cynthia Morrison has been commended for her tough stance against corruption.

In spite of pressure from some elements at the presidency to cover up “fictitious” deals ongoing at the Ghana School Feeding Programme, the minister took the bull by the horn and suspended the Coordinator of the programme.

Investigations by the National Security uncover that the Coordinator Dr. Kwame Adu-Nsiah paid some caterers for no work done and also added non-existing schools to list of beneficiaries.

“We must commend the Minister for her prompt and swift response to the allegations of wrongdoings with the GSFP,” the NPP Youth For Integrity said in a statement signed by eight of the 10 regional presidents on Friday.

“We also welcome and support her decision to interdict the National Coordinator pending an independent investigation into the allegations. The absence of the Coordinator from office during the investigation will ensure fair and unbiased proceedings without any interference.”

Rallying support for the minister’s action, the NPP youth group said this is a quest to fulfill the core values of probity and accountability.

“This will also restore public trust in Government initiatives and the School Feeding Programme as well. This approach by the minister is in the right direction for the image of the government in fighting against any form of corruption. It will restore public confidence in the program and possibly save public funds.”

Dr. Kwame Adu-Nsiah has since been ordered to hand over to his deputy by close of Friday, December 14, 2018 as pressure mounts on the Chief of Staff to impress upon the Minister to rescind her decision.
