Gender Ministry presents ‘Kaaba’ to Chief Imam

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has donated items to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu to celebrate him for his contribution to peace and development of this country.

The Ministry led by the Minister, Cynthia Morrison on Monday, April 29 paid a courtesy call on the Chief Imam at his Fadama residence in Accra and presented him with an image of Kaaba, a tasbah and an undisclosed amount of money to celebrate him for chalking 100 years.

“As the Ministry we take care of both young and old and as the Chief Imam is our father and for the first time we’ve seen an elderly statesman chalk 100 years. It is not only an achievement so we here this morning as a ministry and as a government representing the President of the Republic together with the Chief of Staff, the First Lady and all those involved especially Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to present to our father a gift that is so memorable. We presented him with the Kaaba and you know Kaaba is his faith and we presented it with his tasbah to pray with also”, the Minister said.

The National Chief Imam is one is highly revered in the country and he is known for his welcoming nature and peace advocacy.

The National Chief Imam in a symbolic gesture on Sunday, April 21 joined congregants of the Christ the King Church in Accra in worship and was received on arrival by the Parish Priest, Rev Father Andrew Campbell.

Many social media users who spotted the Chief Imam at the church said the move is a great effort towards religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence in the country.
