General Alert! Beware of event invaders at social gatherings

In recent times, going to events has become very risky since it is likely you are going to find yourself as a victim of event invaders who do nothing but come to steal personal effects of attendees of such occasions.

These event thieves have become so dangerous that they are even present in the house of God and other places of worship.

Their job is to blend in with attendees of occasions and when these people are unaware, they make away with properties belonging to others.

These raiders target high profile churches, weddings, social gatherings and even at naming ceremonies.

The most popular ‘event thief’ incident in recent times was the case involving the missing handbag of the quiz mistress, Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmann.

The handbag of the quiz mistress has soon not been found despite desperate calls and appeals to the “thief” to return the bag. Recently, an event thief made away with gifted items and cash presented to a bride at a traditional marriage ceremony at East Legon.

The bride, who narrated the incident to a correspondent of The Mirror, said some of her cousins spotted a lady carrying one of the basins containing wax prints into a car but when they interrogated her, she claimed the bride, who she claimed to be her best friend, had authorized her to keep the items in the car.

Another incident was reported where a certain Emelia Appiah went to the house of a bride pretending to be part of bride’s dressing team.

She gained access to the gift table during the wedding and made away with gifts and cash totaling £5,000.

Emelia is however in police grips after she had used her gimmick to make away with property and cash at weddings.

Nowadays, the activities of these event thieves have become so rampant that they are now found at national events including movie awards and music awards.

The police have now been made aware of the activities of these event raiders and are on the lookout for such perpetrators.

They have however advised the general public to be wary of suspicious people and also take care of their personal properties whenever they are at large gatherings.
