General Overseer calls on clergy to win souls for Christ

Apostle Paul K Addei Junior, the General Overseer of the Promise Word Church International has called on the clergy to propagate the word of God to win more souls for Christ instead of using the pulpit to acquire wealth and riches.

He said it was unbiblical on the part of some men and women of the Gospel to indulge in practices such as occultism just to win peoples' trust in them thereby depriving them from taking Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord.

Apostle Addei Jnr. made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on the sidelines of a four-day crusade and prayers as part of the Easter festivities of the Church held at Agona Swedru on the theme ‘The Enemies of the Cross”.

He cautioned the clergy who indulge in such occult practices to brainwash their followers to attain wealth to stop such practices, which he described as “the enemies of the Cross”.

He said human-beings must be grateful to the Almighty God for providing the Bible “to guide us along the part of righteousness and to help us towards achieving his expectations rather than to follow acts which at the end would lead us to destruction.

“Most churches and ministers of the gospel appear to have over-stepped their focus, the members are being stressed with financial demands and this is giving cause for much discontentment in churches”.

According to him, many people have turned away from the word of God and their souls thirst and hunger for the true word of God, saying nevertheless, Jesus was still calling on all to come to him.

Apostle Addei Jnr, emphasised the need for Christians to use the occasion to reflect on Jesus’ achievements on the cross and live to his glory, that “we may be faithful to God to attain salvation rather than depending and putting our trust in mortal human beings and other things”.

Pastor Patrick Prekor of the Fire of Hope Chapel and Mr Kobina Keese, a businessman jointly presented a number of assorted items including; bags of rice, cooking oil, pieces of cloths and Soft drinks valued at GHC10,000.00 to the aged and widows of the church.

Pastor Prekor said the donation formed part of their personal contributions to put smiles on the faces of widows, Orphans, aged and the vulnerable in society especially during occasions like Christmas and Easter.

He said formerly, the items were to a number of orphanage homes, but they decided to extend such support to the church to assist the vulnerable.
