George Afriyie, former Ghana FA vice president has urged Kotoko to extend CK Akonnor’s contract despite the team’s exit from the CAF Confederation Cup competition.
CK Akonnor guided Kotoko to a group stage finish at this year’s competition after 11 years.
After the team’s failure to book a place in the quarterfinals berth, it has been consistently been reported that the former Dreams FC gaffer will be fired.
However, the Ghana FA presidential hopeful has therefore called on the Kotoko top hierarchy to reward the Coach with a new deal following his exploits with the team.
“Personally I also don’t think so, for me I will like them to give him a long term contract, let’s say three, four years so he takes charge of the team,” he told Atinka FM.
“I speak to CK a lot and he has lots of plans for the team, we don’t have to give him any pressure.
“Look at the time he took up the team and what he has been able to do with them.”
George Afriyie followed the Porcupine Warriors in their CAF Confederation Cup campaign and was in Zambia for their last game against ZESCO United.
