George William Dickson wins Life Time Achievers Award

On 7th November 2015 MayMay Productions in collaboration with the Ghana High Commission hosted the very first Ghana Awards SA at the Bryanston Country Club in Johannesburg.t of the Musicians and Dancers Association of Ghana and the Founder and Executive Director of Rhythms of African Music Foundation won a life time awards together with Mr. Sam Jonah and others.

In his acceptance speech, George William Dickson who is the President of Ghana National Supporters Union in South Africa, President of Association of Ghanaians Musicians in South Africa, The only Ghanaian Member of the Creative Workers Union of South Africa said I have supported so many organizations including Music Industry Federation of South Africa 2010 World Cup Media launch at Bass Line, Johannesburg, Participated in music exploitation workshop at Pretoria, organized by Zakheni Music Trust, Creative Workers Union of South Africa and Heritage Music School. Through him over 936 Ghanaians has visited South Africa without any hindrance thanks the organizers for a good job done.

George has performed at the 16 days activism against women ceremony at Mamelodi, Pretoria, South Africa. He owns the only Ghanaian band affiliated to the Ghana High Commission, Pretoria, South Africa and the band was designated Ghana’s Music Ambassadors to the 2010 FIFA World Cup Tournament in South Africa and has received appreciation certificate by the South African NGO Coalition (SANGOCO)

The red carpet ceremony was attended by a target audience of business leaders, political figures, members of the diplomatic corps from the Ghanaian and the South African community. The night was hosted by renowned television actress Abena Ayivor and distinguished MC James Harvey.

The keynote address was delivered by Honorable Minister Lindiwe Zulu in which she emphasized the importance of providing small businesses with the correct tools for success. In her own words” small business means big business” and entrepreneurs are on important drivers of the economy.

She also encourages stronger Ghana South Africa business and trade partnerships.

Some notable awards on the night included Ghanaian business making a difference in Africa, Akweni Project Management, large business of the year, Sheila Afari Group Academic Achiever of the Year. Mr. Augustine Twum as well as the various life time achievers in the field of Academia, community service, entrepreneurship, health and philanthropy.
