The four German escorts who were detained by officers of the Ghana Immigration Service for the manner, in which they brought in a Ghanaian deportee yesterday, are reported to have spent the night at the German Embassy in Accra. An official of the Immigration Service at the airport, Mr. Samuel Ahadzi said the Germans were released because they held proper documents. The men, Messrs. Gutz, Werkmeister, Holtz and Sauer yesterday brought in a Ghanaian deportee, Samuel Gyimah from Ejisu in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, trussed like a chicken on a flight from Berlin through Moscow to Accra. Other deportees and passengers mainly Nigerians who were distressed about the way Gyimah was handcuffed and tied to his seat nearly strangled the four German officers for their action. The Germans however explained that Gyimah was treated that way because he was unruly. The Germans are expected to return to Germany today aboard a Lufthansa flight.
