Agroyesum (Ash), Nov. 14, GNA - A nine-member medical team from Germany is in Ghana to support St. Martin's Catholic Hospital at Agroyesum in the Amansie West District, to deliver health care to people in the area.
The German Rotary Volunteer Doctors, made up of five medical doctors and four nurses include Dr. Andrews Scholhoerltar, Dr. Yann Asbeck, Dr. Karim Wendy and Dr. Inge Mathes.
Briefing journalists at Agroyesum on Thursday, Dr. Adrews Scholhoerltar, leader of the team, said members would be at the hospital for 14 days to undertake about 90 buruli ulcer, hernia, goiter and appendicitis surgical operations and attend to other emergency cases. He said that last year some members of the group were at the hospital to undertake 65 surgical operations. Dr. Anthony Gershon, Medical Superintendent in charge of the hospital, on behalf of the staff commended the team for assisting the facility to address the health needs of the people. He said the team would treat patients who had registered with the National Health Insurance Scheme free of charge but unregistered patients would pay for drugs.
