The Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) has marked its golden jubilee celebration with career choice interactions with students of the Sonrise Christian Senior High school in Ho.
The engagement was to help shape the career path of the students and make them appreciate and develop interest in the survey profession.
Mr Maxwell Lukutor, Volta Regional President, GhIS, said though membership of the Institution was not that bad, it needed more young people who could chart new paths in the built environment.
He called on parents to allow their wards to chart their own career paths instead of limiting them to a few common ones.
Mr Lukutor said those parental controls stifled many creative minds and locked others in careers they hated, limiting creativity in workplaces.
He therefore underscored the need for professional bodies to make time to interact with students and provide them career options to enhance the human resource base of the country.
The climax of the 50th anniversary will be in Accra between July 28 and August 03 this year.
